You do need GCSE MATHS, ENGLISH (and SCIENCE if primary) to apply

All secondary applicants do require GCSE (or equivalent) ENGLISH and MATHS. All Primary applicants also require Science in addition.

What is a good trainee teacher?

When Ofsted visit they will look for #

trainee performance in lessons trainee performance in files

lesson must be at least good with some outstanding features

all learners make progress towards challenging lesson objectives

all learners can explain how the teaching helped them make progress

learners are interested and feature debate between learners and teacher

high quality dialogue and rapport with learners

monitor learners progress and give feedback and individual targets and adapt lesson accordingly

subject knowledge is demonstrated through how they support learners

lesson changes pace, teaching methods in response to learners

links made with other learning

social and cultural diversity is promoted

how to plan for progression, showing subject knowledge and subject pedagogy

evidence of monitoring and recording or learners progress and how this is used in later planning to cater for groups and individuals

demonstrate links between learning objectives - learning activities -assessment strategies. "what I want learners to learn, how they will learn and how I know they have learnt it!"

show innovation within the constraints of a SOW

maintain files as a working document showing annotation as self reflection

high quality self evaluation with clear focus on learners setting challenging targets for their own professional development, taking into account feedback from trainers

innovative approaches to integration of ECM and social and cultural diversity
